C/Col Neville Accepts the Spaatz Award


C/Col Neville is awarded Cadet of the Year for CAP as well as having her Spaatz award re-presented at the NYWG Conference banquet.
Cadet Neville joined CAP in 1998 to the Richardell Composite Squadron. She transferred to Rockland Cadet Squadron in the winter of 1999 and has remained there since. She attended two encampments in 1998 (NY and NJ Wing, in-flight). She attained her Mitchell award in July 1999, the Earhart award in August of 2000.

Her group level honors include being named the 1998, 2000 and 2001 Group COY and the 1999 Group Color Guard Commander. In 1999 she was also elected Group CAC Chairman

At the NY Wing level, she was elected NY Wing CAC Chairman in 2000, and reelected in 2001. She also received the Fleet Foot Award, Female at the 2002 NYWG Drill Competition.

Her national level activities included earning a coveted trip through the International Air Cadet Exchange to Austria in the summer of 2001. She also attended AFSCFC in 1999, Hawk Mountain Ranger School in 1999, NJ GSAR in 1999, NFA, Powered, in 2000, the NMMA in 2000, and Cadet Officer School in 2001. She was also named honor cadet of her COS seminar.

To top the list of her accomplishments in 2001, she was also named the NY Wing, Northeast Region & ultimately the Civil Air Patrol National Cadet of the Year. Not only did she achieve this prestigious individual honor, she earned Spaatz certificate #1456 on 22 April 2002, completing all of the cadet program's achievements. She received appointments to both the Naval and Air Force Academy, choosing to attend the USAFA.
