MEMORANDUM FOR: All NYW Personnel

SUBJECT: 2001 NYW Encampment Dates and Info 

1.  The 2001 NYW Encampment is being held at Fort Drum near Watertown, NY, from 
28 July to 5 August.  Applications for in-flight cadets are to be postmarked by 
9 July 2001 to be considered.  All encampment information is posted here including 
the assigned staff positions.

2.  Per CAPR 52-16, Para 5-6.a., cadets must have a current membership card and 
have completed Curry (Cadet Airman- one stripe) achievement in order to attend.  
hey must be a C/A when they inprocess (ok to have a C/B apply).  A C/B will be 
poorly equipped to handle encampment.  All of the requirements for C/A are 
expected of a cadet at encampment (reporting, uniform wear, etc.)  Squadron 
commaders are *STRONGLY* encouraged to *CAREFULLY* consider sending 
a very young (9, 10, 11 years old) cadet.  Typically the youngest ones have the most 
behavior (homesick, maturity) and performance problems.

3.  Please forward to all units and personnel.  Seniors are needed also to 
assist the encampment staff, as an assistant TAC officer or on executive staff.

4.  A bus will be arranged for the NYC/Long Island area.  More details should be 
posted in a couple of days.

5.  Applications (CAPF 31, Hold Harmless agreement, Permission for Medical 
Treatment, Check for $125 to "New York Wing Cadet Programs") should be sent to: 
2Lt Phyllis Pruitt, 84 Halsey Street, Islandia, NY 11749.  Forms are available 
for download below (if you have trouble, 'refresh' or 'reload' your browser).  
Last years' forms are OK- just white out the dates and replace with this years'.
