SUBJECT: International Air Cadet Exchange (IACE) 2003 Application Procedure
1. IACE is an exciting opportunity for both cadets and senior members to
represent our country to youth aviation programs worldwide. This distinction
can only be bestowed upon the best cadets in the nation, and consequently,
New York is only able to nominate two cadets for the activity. Members
participating in IACE will be required to purchase the CAP Blazer uniform
and pay a nominal activity fee, totaling approximately $400. The activity
is completely paid for- airfare, lodging, transportation, tours and food.
2. National HQ has special instructions outlined in the November or December
CAP News pullout and the CAP NHQ CP webpage (http://www.capnhq.gov/, click
on "Cadet Programs" then "International Air Cadet Exchange 2003" when it
becomes available in November). Cadets must mail in the coupons per the
instructions in the CAP News. Cadet applicants must be a Cadet Captain
(Earhart Award) on or before 31 December 02 as it appears on the MML in
order to apply. Seniors need only have completed Level 1 in order to apply.
Applications are due 31 December 02.
3. The NY Wing IACE review boards will be conducted on 18 January 2002,
starting at 1000, location TBA. More information will be provided as the
location is firmed up. The cadets from LIG and WNY will be interviewed
after 1300 hours to allow for travel time, and cadets from all other groups
will be interviewed starting at 1000 hours. Cadets that cannot attend in
person for extreme extenuating circumstances may do a phone interview on
18 January 2002 (same day, details to come).
4. Cadets and seniors will apply directly to Wing HQ. Groups will not
conduct review boards for IACE. Application forms must be postmarked to
NYW HQ/CP by 31 DEC 02. Packages will include a CAPF 31 with photo,
and a CAP resume. Wing must also have a copy of the coupon that
appears in the CAP news.
